To improve digital security on the African continent, Kaspersky (www.kaspersky.co.za) has signed a three-year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Smart Africa. This landmark agreement will drive cooperative efforts to expand Africa’s cybersecurity capabilities.

The partnership is committed to building basic cybersecurity skills through training programs, including cybersecurity skills provided by Kaspersky Academy (https://apo-opa.co/41r6hzs) – Founded in 2010, the international education undertaking has a mission to promote the best cybersecurity education to build a safer digital world. Another major focus of the partnership is to address gender differences through support initiatives to empower girls and women in cybersecurity, STEM and ICT fields, an effort by Kaspersky’s efforts to empower women professionals (https://apo-opa.co/4H51GWK), attracting more women.

In addition to human capacity development, the collaboration aims to standardize cybersecurity policies by bringing together two organizations to create coordinated regional and national frameworks. This work involves working closely with cybersecurity agencies, law enforcement agencies, computer emergency teams, industry leaders and other key stakeholders to ensure a unified approach to digital security.

In addition, the program is designed to strengthen technical defense capabilities. This includes building critical network infrastructure such as security operations centers and computer emergency response teams, as well as providing expert technical advice to prevent and mitigate the impact of cybercrime.

Lacina Koné, CEO of Smart Africa, commented: “This memorandum of understanding marks an important milestone in our search to ensure Africa’s digital future. By using it in conjunction with Kaspersky, we not only build basic cybersecurity skills and bridge the gender gap, but also lay the foundation for strong regional collaboration and the latest cyber infrastructure.”

“Our strategic partnership with Smart Africa is designed to help build a safer cyberspace across the continent and beyond. We see this program as a commitment to empower individual users and organizations to ensure everyone can browse the digital world safely and confidently.”

The partnership reflects Kaspersky’s commitment to a collaborative approach to help enhance efforts aimed at increasing global cyber resilience to create a safer, safer digital space. It also builds on the momentum of the recently established Cybersecurity Agency of Africa (ANCA), a collaborative program designed by Smart Africa to bring together cybersecurity authorities in African countries to address the growing challenges faced by cyber threats and crime.

Smart Africa is unwaveringly committed to building a safe, inclusive and digitally empowered continent, and joint collaboration promises to address the evolving challenges of the online world and position Africa as a model for digital security innovation.
