The inspiring event, planned on March 18, 2025, invites students, educators and curious ideas from Africa and beyond to listen to the first hand of pioneering astronauts who have made history in space exploration.
Co-host africa.com The event and Student Sponsorship Program (SSP) emphasize the transformative power of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education and provide rare opportunities to interact directly with the most accomplished astronauts of our times.
These 7 special astronauts:
- Robert L. Satcher Jr. – NASA astronaut, orthopedic surgeon and the first orthopedic surgeon in space
- Captain Winston E. Scott – NASA astronauts, naval pilots and multiple spacewalk veterans
- Major gen Charles F. Bolden Jr. – NASA astronaut, former NASA administrator and space shuttle commander
- Dr. Bernard Harris Jr. – NASA astronauts, physicians and the first black man to perform spacewalk
- Joan E. Higginbotham – NASA astronauts and aerospace engineers, discovering on a shuttle
- Colonel Frederick D. Gregory – NASA astronauts and the first African-American man to fly and perform a space shuttle mission
- Little Captain – Experienced NASA astronauts with three space flights and seven spacewalks

“As Africa’s technology and innovation advance, we must invest in encouraging young people to dream big,” Teresa Clarke said. africa.com. “The event brings together seven groundbreaking black astronauts whose careers embody perseverance, education and ambition. We hope their story will inspire the passion of future scientists, engineers and technology pioneers in Africa.”
The live performance event is open to everyone and will have fascinating discussions on astronauts’ experiences in space, the challenges they overcome, and the key role of STEM education in shaping the exploration of the future. Attendees will also have the opportunity to submit questions to make them interactive and inspiring experiences.
