Six Nations 2025: The second coming of Scotland’s Huw Jones

Jones returned to Glasgow in 2022, coincided with Franco Smith as head coach.

Already in the building is Sione Tuipulotu, a midfielder who looks like a model to praise Jones’s skills.

They are affectionately called “Huwipulotu” by Warriors fans, who are arguably the greatest center pairing in Scotland during his career era and played a role in the URC title title in Glasgow last season.

Since returning to Scottston, Jones has become a more mellow player, adding defensiveness to his dazzling offensive skills.

“When you’re young and show up in the scene first, you can escape,” Pete Horne said.

“At the top level, all the little details are more important than anything. I think it’s Huw’s thing, a penny drops with him. On defense, he jumps up. He’s one of our best defenders.

“One area that often doesn’t get noticed is the collapse area, especially the way Scotland plays. We’ve been moving the ball into the wide channel, and Huw has no end.

“He was incredible in terms of running lines. His timing and the change to the ball were amazing. Not only did it create a lot of rosters, it also brought us a lot because the defender had to respect him.”
