This is a small country in southern Africa, almost entirely composed of mountains and completely surrounded by South Africa.
Here are nine things about this country:

The people of Lesotho have over 2 million people, with some cultural and linguistic similarities with South Africans. Their language Sesotho is also one of the 11 official languages in South Africa. In fact, there are more people who can speak in South Africa (4.6 million) than in Lesotho.
Lesotho’s biggest resource is “platinum”

According to the U.S. State Department, since 2006, the U.S. government has committed to helping the country deal with HIV, including prevention, care and treatment services.
Prince Harry has long-term personal charitable interests in Lesotho
Prince Harry and his close friend Prince Cecio of Lesotho have established a charity in the country – Sentebale, which means “forget I’m not.” The charity works with local communities in grass-roots Lesotho to help young people affected by HIV/AIDS.

It exports jeans to the United States
Lesotho is one of the largest clothing exporters in sub-Saharan Africa.
Last year, it exported $237 million (£184 million) of clothing, including jeans and textiles through the Africa Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA), which allowed eligible African countries to send certain goods to the United States without paying taxes.
It ranks second by the value of the goods exported in the transaction.
The country with the highest suicide rate in the world
According to the United Nations World Health Organization, suicide rates in mountainous areas are the highest, with 87.5 people making a living every year for every 100,000 people.
That’s nearly 10 times the global average, twice the country’s second highest in Guyana, with about 40.
There is no reason for shocking statistics – experts point to drug abuse and alcohol, underwork and lack of mental health counseling.
