Get Ready for the Next Restaurant Double-Up: IHOP and Applebee’s
Yes, Virginia – in fact Texas, there is an Apple-to-Live restaurant combination. At the earliest times, people ate it.
Dining brand (from) owns the two restaurant chains mentioned above and the vague taco shop, and opened its first joint restaurant in Seguin, Texas last month in Seguin, near San Antonio. During a conference call earlier today, management said the location’s opening week sales were almost what it saw in its previous avatar.
“We expect performance to reach a stable level below this amount, but we are very encouraged by the initial results for this position,” CEO John Peyton said during the call.
The restaurant recalls other combinations, including the “Kentacohuts” and Mashed Dunkin’ Donuts-Baskin-Robbins store, which includes stuff from two chains, as well as exclusive products like Buffalo Chicken Chicken Amelet. (The dining brand doesn’t call the merged restaurant “Ihopbee’s,” but maybe that should.)
Management said today that the company plans to open up to 14 dual-brand restaurants this year.
Stocks of food brands were rising Wednesday afternoon, although they fell about 20% this year. The company reported its latest financial results earlier today, noting that investors’ full-year restaurant sales growth at IHOP and Applebee chains is roughly flat.
