Coldplay to help decide 2026 World Cup final half-time show performers
The 2026 World Cup final will be in the Super Bowl-style halftime show for the first time, and Coldplay helps to select the “Artist List”.
The tournament will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico and will end on July 19, 2026 at Metropolitan Life Stadium in New Jersey.
Although performances have become common in exhibition venues such as the Champions League final, there has never been a half-time performance in the World Cup final.
Half of the regular NFL season lasted about 15 minutes, but was extended up to 30 minutes in the Super Bowl to accommodate halftime performances.
FIFA president Gianni Infantino said hockey’s lead singer Chris Martin and band manager Phil Harvey will help build a group of artists to perform in a 15-minute break in the final next year.
“I can confirm my first half of the FIFA World Cup final in New York, New Jersey,” Infantino wrote on Instagram.
“It will be a historic moment for the FIFA World Cup and a performance suitable for the world’s largest sporting event.”
