Woman charged with murdering two-year-old found in Hampshire pond

Annabel Mackey found no response on September 10, 2023 at Kingsley Pond, near Boden, Hampshire, shortly after she was reported missing. One day later, she was pronounced dead in the hospital.
Alice Mackey, 42, of Gibbs Lane, Oakhanger, has been in custody and appeared in Basingstoke District Court on Wednesday.
Earlier, Annabel’s father paid tribute to the toddler, who he described as a “shining star” who will be “loved forever.”
Annabelle, he said, is a “beautiful, positive and very happy little girl.”
“Her nature is very pure and we miss it very much,” he said.
“She loves story time, dogs and her Dolly. She loves singing songs and nursery rhymes and loves sweets very much.
“Annabel likes to laugh, she brings a lot of happiness to our lives.
“She is deeply loved by her family and friends. Thank you to everyone who has had a positive influence throughout her life. Remember her legacy, remember her and take care of others like her.
“The world needs more people like Annabelle to spread positivity and kindness.
“Annabelle, I love you very much, you are a brilliant star, you will be loved forever.”
Annabel reportedly disappeared at her home on Forge Road, Kingsley on Sunday, September 10, 2023.
Police later blocked a house on the road that was about 1,500 feet (460m) along a large rough pond.
