Google New Feature Drop Includes Spam Text Alerts, Pulse Loss Detection
Google’s new batch of Android features announced on Tuesday include scam detection about its messaging app, as well as pulse loss detection for Pixel Watch 3 owners, which will automatically call emergency services.
Google’s scam detection feature will use device AI to analyze conversations in suspicious patterns and display a screen prompt when the feature thinks you are having a conversation with a scammer. The prompt will also provide access to the delete message or report and block the sender’s access. By default, this feature is turned on, and Google states that all AI processing on the device remains on the device. However, it can be turned off at any time.

Meanwhile, for Pixel Watch Watch 3 owners, the device introduced new pulse detection capabilities in the United States after it was received US FDA clearance last week. Google said the feature will arrive at the watch at the end of March and will be activated in events that cause pulse loss, such as cardiac arrest or circulatory failure. This feature is already in 14 countries, including the EU.
