Ospreys must ‘harness growth’ that stunned Glasgow – Mark Jones

Jones added: “I’m proud of the boys. What a performance. You know, it’s not a complete 80-minute perfect, sophisticated show, but there’s something in it.

“There was a class attack, there were some really stupid defenses, there were some great fixtures trying. Then, at the end there was a mentality, don’t say dead, you’re going to shoot again because that’s what you can ask for.”

Jones also praised Walsh and won the final fine for the restart after Glasgow’s attempt to lead Nathan McBeth and Duncan Weir’s conversion.

Senior captain Justin Tipuric followed Walsh’s restart to win a key turnover at the All-Defender and then won the tilt championship.

“Walshy is huge, it’s huge for the group, the pressure on him and he stepped up and knocked it down, I’m happy for him,” Jones said.

“I’ve just been to the environment for a relatively short period of time. Actually, one thing that hits your mindset is the mindset of a boy. Work with these types of people, when you walk through the door in the morning, the people there are there, they just want to be better every day.”

“We hope to be more willing to finish the game, but if we want to kick it, we’re behind,” said former Warratahs and Exeter Chiefs Walsh.

He also praised the 35-year-old former Welsh and the downtime impact on the side tips of the British and Irish lions, as well as Daniel Kasende.

“I’m going to restart for too long, but I have a freak trick (Tipuric) that Dan Kasende chases it for a mistake,” Walsh added.

“In fact, I don’t remember the last time they were beaten at home, so it was a different driver for us…we could show up and actually make a statement.”
