Matheus Cunha: How costly will forward’s red card prove for Wolves?
Wolves owner Pereira told the BBC game that day: “I was looking for the ball when things happened.
“It means I didn’t see this, but football is emotional and it’s very high today. Not only on the court, but outside (the court). There’s a lot of pressure, and ultimately these are things that can happen.
“You know he’s frustrated right now, and in my opinion, he’s better. I never talk to the team when we’re nervous or frustrated. It’s better to wait one day and think about everything. After we can have a conversation.
“Of course, he’s a big player, but we’ll start with 11 in the next game and start with 11.”
He said in a post-match press conference: “Matheus is a special player and he played extra time today. He had a problem with the hamstrings in the last three weeks and he tried it.”
“I didn’t see this. Don’t ask me about it because I’m looking at the other end. In the end, the referee decided on the red card.”
When asked if Cunha deserves another chance, Pereira added: “Of course he is important, but I can’t talk about things I don’t know. It’s important to check the situation and look for what’s going on because I’m looking for another party.
“Other people told me that he kicked, he punched, what he did with his head, did the player go to the hospital? No, okay. But of course, this situation can’t happen.
“To judge the situation, I have to have a clear image in my mind.”
Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola criticized Kerkez’s decision to get a yellow card in the Cunha conflict. It’s second place in the FA Cup this season, which means he will be banned from the quarterfinals.
“Milos Kerkez received a yellow card for taking a positive attitude,” said Irara. “After everything they did to Milos Kerkez, they should reward him because of his attitude.
“They punched him, kicked him on the floor, they hit him, he didn’t react! You punished this? I have to say to Milos (that way) I can’t do it like a player.
“The prize is that they showed him a yellow card and he won’t play in the quarterfinals. Yes, I’m very disappointed with the referee.”
