HSBC Women’s World Championship: Lydia Ko finishes strongly to win
In the final round, world No. 3 Lydia Ko stood out to win her first HSBC Women’s World Championship in Singapore.
The New Zealander is a minority champion of three times, leading a round in England’s Charley Hull.
However, the three consecutive birdies in sixth place put the 27-year-old Olympic champion in a strong position, while KO finished with a 69-shot total, four of which beat Thailand’s Jeeno Thitikul and Japan’s Ayaka Furue.
Hull said after Saturday’s third round that she had been struggling with illness, losing his final two rounds with 74 points, 74 in a third-third share.
The KO win was her debut in 11 games at the Sentosa Golf Club Tanjong Course – and her 23rd LPGA victory.
“I just want to focus on the game because it’s a very nervous ranking,” she said.
“I don’t know if I will win.
