UK Open: Luke Littler and Luke Humphries through to the quarter-finals
Luke Littler and Luke Humphries both won the British Open quarterfinals in the fifth and sixth rounds on Saturday.
World champion Littler defeated Jermaine Wattimena 10-4 before fighting Krzysztof Ratajski of Minehead.
Meanwhile, the world No. 1 Humphries dominated his two games, throwing Ryan Searle 10-0 before defeating Ryan Joyce 10-2 to enter the final eight games with a 101.59 win with a 10-2 victory.
Littler will face Dutchman Gian Van Veen in Sunday’s quarterfinals, while Humphries will be in contact with British James Wade.
British Open Runner-up Humphries told ITV his completion was “really good”.
The 30-year-old added: “My score is pretty good, but I know it will be better. If I can really score, I can be very, very dangerous.”
In the fifth round of the win over Dutchman Wattimena, junior Littler had to dig deeper to overcome Poland’s Ratajski for the past 16 seasons.
Littler led 6-2 when Ratajski won the next four games. The two matched evenly in the end stage until the world ranked second, single and double.
“I’m harder than it seems, but I just have to stick with it and win,” the 18-year-old said.
Dutchman Michael Van Gerwen was shocking in the fifth round, losing 10-8 to Welshman Rob Owen, who was beaten 10-8 by Wade.
