Ranjuo Tomblin: Briton wins historic artistic swimming men’s World Cup gold
Britain’s Ranjuo Tomblin has won more history in the men’s tech solo event at the Paris Art Swimming World Cup.
The 19-year-old becomes GB The first European champion of male art swimming Last year, he is now the first male World Cup medal champion in his country.
Tomblin said he wanted to change his perspective on the sport, with the judge’s routine score of 214.3966 at the opening ceremony of the season.
Eduard Kim of Kazakhstan won the silver medal at 213.8167, while the bronze medal went to Jordi Caceres Iglesias of Spain at 213.5992.
“I didn’t expect that we were just here to test our routine,” Tom Brin said.
“I’m really happy to have the opportunity to test our routine in big competitions, so I’m really happy and I can’t believe it has happened.”
The victory was won in the same city, with Kate Shortman and Izzy Thorpe winning duo silver last year, winning Britain’s first Olympic medal in the sport, and their performance inspired Tomblin.
He added: “Kate and Izzy are really opening the door for us as new generations of athletes.”
“They made us realize that Britain is actually quite good in the sport, which gave us a lot of confidence.
“When you win a medal, it’s absolutely like, ‘Oh, look, see what I’m doing’ – it really shows all the hard work that does for us.”
