The original EC100 is an ergonomic office chair designed to be comfortable all day without breaking the bank. Over the years, I have had the opportunity to review the best chairs, many of whom have become increasingly expensive. Protoarc Although I didn’t know much about them before this chair, he created a quality chair that is easy to set, comfortable and looks good, with the higher ones being under $200.
Protoarc’s focus on the EC100 is lumbar support, breathability and excellent cushions, all of which are easier to get than some of the big names we reviewed in the roundup The best office chair.
Original EC100: Price and Availability
The Protoarc Ec100 offers excellent build quality for just $189 and is available on Amazon, Protoarc’s website and a handful of other retailers. Protoarc occasionally offers discounts.
The red and black color schemes were sold out at the time of review, but the gray option was still available (as you have gray in the photo, you’ll see in the photo).
Finally, the EC100 comes with a fair, but not a stunning two-year warranty and a 30-day return policy.
Original EC100: Unboxing and First Impression
The original EC100 is an easy and straightforward assembly. It took about 20 minutes to complete and the parts were clearly marked.
Everything was neatly packed in the box so there was no damage to any transport damage, and every piece felt good, which gave me confidence that not only would this chair break immediately.
My first impression of this chair is that it is a great combination of premiums and budgets. It has a strong foundation, high quality parts and a nice design. It fits in the design language of other ergonomic office chairs I’ve tested. Additionally, after assembly, no piece of debris that were bolted together felt loose, which is another good sign of quality design. My favorite mesh is light and highly breathable, the seat cushions are relatively thick and well-filled.

One of the best things about the original EC100 is that I can recommend it as a great choice for most people. This is partly due to the budget-friendly price tag, partly because the chair is designed for individuals 5’3″ -6’5″ and weighs from 90 pounds to 280 pounds. I’m not sure the range I’ve seen before is very large.
When used, the sturdy and high-quality frame is stylish and provides the support required. The EC100’s mesh back breathable, keeping users cool during the day and helping to reduce sweating while being cocooned into old leather-style chairs.
According to the original seat, the cushion has spring-enhanced features, providing better pressure distribution. I love seeing it feels like my support, providing a comfortable seat, but also feels like I don’t sink into memory foam or cushioning – it feels like I also have something that cheers me up. Protoarc also claims that this spring-reinforced seat cushion provides better pressure distribution, making you more comfortable and longer. Pairing this with another feature claimed by the original is the ergonomic S-shaped backrest, which should help with spinal alignment. Finally, add these features to the 7-position armrests and you also get a highly customizable, ergonomic comfort chair for a high price.
Original EC100: Use
Since September 2024, my team and I have this chair in the rotation. Yes, it’s been a while. However, this chair has surrounded and entered the perfect table setting for this chair. Since the chair is very flexible, I wanted to use it with an equally flexible table because it is highly adaptable. So I paired it with a table that can be used as a popular table now, it’s easy to run any computer setup, and even run iPad air setups frequently.
The chair is often used by people around 5’5 inches and less than 150 pounds in height, while over 6 feet, just over 200 pounds. What’s impressive about this chair is (or tell me) that it feels just as comfortable to both ends of the spectrum. The lumbar support is strong but not too hard, but the seats that sit in are relaxing and are a good choice. If you run warm during the day and want something cool, it’s less breathable than your back, but that might do too much for your back, but it might be too warm for the lower half of your body…
Another thing we noticed compared to other chairs is that while many people can choose a position that clicks in several options when tilting back, the chair can only sit up, sit backwards or have tension between them without other locking positions. In most cases, this is good and we didn’t notice, but in a few times we were alone trying to lock it, which made us only two choices frustrating.
