President Ramaphosa arrives in the Republic of Namibia for State Funeral of former President Nujoma

President Cyril Ramaphosa arrived in Windhoek, Namibia this morning on Saturday, March 1, 2025, where he will join the Nujoma family, the people and government of the Namibia, and other states and government leaders to bid farewell to the late former President of the Republic of Namibia, Samuel Samuel Shafishuna Nujoma.

The former president, Nujoma, died on February 11, 2025, while receiving medical services in Windhoek at the age of 95.

Dr. Nujoma participated in anti-colonial politics in the 1950s and became the first president of the Southwest African People’s Organization (SWAPO) in 1960.

President Ramaphosa reiterated his deep condolences to the Namibian government and the people of South Africa on behalf of the government and the people of South Africa.

South Africa and Namibia enjoy good bilateral relations as they consolidated brotherly and historical relations in the fight against colonialism and apartheid. The two countries established diplomatic ties in March 1990.
