Premiership Women’s Rugby: Saracens defeat Harlequins 32-24 to reach final

Saracens reached the Premier League women’s rugby final by defeating Harlequins 32-24 in the exciting semifinals at the Stonex Stadium.

England Wing Jess Breach was a standout player who returned to the Saracens team last week after a hip injury in November.

The 27-year-old tried with two Alysha Corrigan, an attempt from Marlie Packer and May Campbell, was enough to get the home run to the March 16 final.

Gloucester-Hartpury faces Bristol’s Bears in another semifinal on Sunday, broadcasting the BBC Red Button, BBC Iplayer and BBC Sport website, 15:00 GMT.

After the game, Breach told TNT Sports: “It was really horrible to lose in the semifinal last year (versus the Bristol Bears).

“To come out here and win in our homeland – we really fight for victory.

“It was a long season for me to get back on the court; I feel like I’m really able to get back to where I am today and I’m glad it was a semi-final that helped the team to the finals.”

Saracens ranked second on the PWR table, while Harlequins fell behind in third place.

Quins opened the score in two minutes through Spain’s defender Claudia Pena but fell 20-12 in the first half.

The clever scene playback of the second half of the visitor led to Lauren Torley’s attempt to narrow the gap to 3 points and still have 20 minutes to go.

But before Babalwa Latsha caught Quins’ late attempt, attempts from Corrigan and Campbell, coupled with Zoe Harrison’s conversion.
