Handre Pollard: Leicester Tigers back set to return to South Africa
South African Flying Second-hand Pollard will leave the Leicester Tigers at the end of the season to rejoin the Bulls in his home country.
The two-time World Cup champion signed with a Premier League club before the 2022-23 season and scored 45 appearances and scored 395 points.
But the versatile defender said the family reasons and the temptation of the club he started his career in 2014 was too difficult to resist.
“Making, leaving the Leicester Tigers was a tough decision because I loved the club and being part of this group,” The 30-year-old told the club website.,,,,, External
“After thoughtfully, the opportunity to return to South Africa after six years in Europe and be able to return to the club where I’ve been a career is something I feel like my family and I can take away.
“This is actually what to say now because I really don’t want to start talking like this. I have a lot of time left for the Leicester Tigers, I have a lot of time left for me, and I focus on successfully completing it.”
Pollard made a breakthrough with the Bulls in 2014, then served on the Japanese club DOCOMO Red Hurricanes in 2015, and in 2019 with French side French Side Montpellier.
Pollard’s World Cup title was in 2019, when South Africa beat England in the final, and in 2023 he scored with all points when he beat New Zealand 12-11.
Pollard will continue to play for Leicester, who is fourth in the Premier League until the end of the campaign.
