Stephen Miran, who nominated chairman of the White House Economic Adviser Council, proposed the administration’s economic vision at a confirmation hearing on the Senate Banking Committee on Thursday. “The U.S. economic history has seen high tariff rates match the extraordinary economic success,” Milan said. “So there is nothing in the history that it is impossible to have a great economy with high tariffs.”
