Matty Lee: Team GB Olympic champion retires from diving aged 26
Olympic gold medalist Matty Lee announced his retirement after his retirement.

“After 20 years of exercise, it’s time for me to leave the dive,” Lee said on Instagram Thursday.
“This decision wasn’t easy, but after losing my father in 2022, I worked hard to find the same passion I once had, and he was why.
“And then got injured, surgery and realizing that I didn’t want to be a broken person moving forward.”
Lee has worked with Noah Williams in recent years to win the Commonwealth Gold Medal and the World Water Sports Championship together in 2022.
With Daley, who retire Lee won World Cup and European gold from the sport in August and won a bronze medal at the 2019 World Championships.
He added: “Literally, diving gave me the world. The people I met, the places I traveled, the memories I left behind. That’s what I cherish the most.”
Leeds-born Lee thanked his family and coaching team, while also paying tribute to Daly, adding: “What a journey, what moments we share. The Olympics are forever.”
Lee won his personal gold at the 2015 European Olympics and made his debut in 2015 with his world championship.
With Lois Toulson on a hybrid sync 10m platform, he won silver medals at the 2017 World Championships and the 2018 European Championships.
Lee said: “What’s next? Honestly, I don’t know. It’s both frightening and exciting. But I know that, life isn’t just about diving, I’m ready.”
