Richard Masters: Premier League chief says there is ‘no civil war’ between clubs over financial regulations

Premier League CEO Richard Masters insists there is no “civil war” between clubs.

Earlier this month, plans to replace the disputed profit and sustainability (PSR) rules were Delay In a legal challenge.

The club is expected to adopt a new Squad Cost Ratio (SCR) system in the 2025-26 campaign, but trials will continue now.

“There is no civil war – that’s not what I said,” said the master who spoke at the Financial Times football summit.

“Consistency between Premier League clubs has never been an easy task. Maybe it is a bit difficult at the moment.

“But to change to a new system, especially the jeopardy is a big decision. If the club needs more time to do this, that’s OK. We’ll keep moving forward.

“We’re likely to agree to PSR in 2025-26 and then over the course of that season, we’ll consider again whether to turn to SCR.”

Everton and Nottingham Forest both were docked in PSR-violating matches last season, an event introduced a decade ago allowing clubs to post a maximum loss of £105 million in a three-year reporting cycle.

SCR is similar to UEFA’s existing financial sustainability rules, allowing clubs to 85% of their total revenue at the cost associated with the squad, and imposes any sanctions “in-season” at a later stage.

One of the reasons for the decision to delay the conversion is that Manchester City’s uncertainty over the new legal challenges of the Premier League is uncertainty about the new provisions of the sponsorship agreement.

Earlier this month, the relevant party transaction rules between 20021 and 2024 were Being considered illegal The rules that have been pending will be determined for the second time.

The Premier League is still awaiting the outcome of the hearing, involving 115 allegations of suspected financial rules violations in New York City. The club denied wrongdoing.

When asked when there might be a result, the Master refused to attract the Master on the date: “You wouldn’t be surprised to learn that I wouldn’t talk about this. I can’t.

“The Discipline Team has heard of the case and now it’s necessary to consider their decision alone and have the time and space to do it. It’s almost all I can solve.”
