Liverpool sack women’s manager Matt Beard

Liverpool manager Matt Beard was fired for the 7th club in the Women’s Premier League.

The 47-year-old helped them into the WSL during his second charge of the Reds.

Liverpool won their fourth time last season, but is currently in the mid-table, with Crystal Palace on the bottom being 9 points higher.

“We all had some great moments with Matt as the LFC female manager and we would like to thank him for his significant contribution,” the club statement read.

“Our priority is to return this team to where it belongs, and we won the WSL promotion in 2022 and together we achieved that.

“We need to build on this momentum and although it is a tough decision, we believe it provides us with the best chance to succeed in the future on the court.”

Amber Whiteley will be temporarily in charge of the team and search for new managers that are already underway.

Beard also served with Bristol City and West Ham, who led Liverpool to WSL championships in a row during his first director.
