Ioan Cunningham: Ex-Wales boss takes Fiji Women’s head coach role
Former Welsh female head coach Ioan Cunningham will be responsible for the Fijian women at this summer’s Rugby World Cup.
Fiji XV is the same as Wales and Scotland and Canada’s August Championships.
Cunningham, 42, resigned as head coach of the Wales women in November after a turbulent year on the court and below.
Fiji ranked 16th in the world rugby rankings, and Fiji Rugby said Cunningham will bring “plans and in-depth plans and knowledge of rugby in the northern hemisphere”.
The Welshman expressed excitement for his new role.
“The potential of this group is huge and I’m excited and honored to have the opportunity to work with the team and represent Fiji,” Cunningham said.
“It’s a very important year in women’s football and I look forward to unleashing the talents in this team.”
