World Boxing: International Olympic Committee grants provisional recognition as international federation
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) calls world boxing an international federation of the sport.
Boxing is not currently part of Los Angeles’ 2028 plan, and creating a new global institution is the biggest obstacle for the sport in the coming competitions.
The International Boxing Association (IBA) has been suspended as the world governing body of the sport for governance, finance, referees and moral issues, and the IOC has boxed in the past two Olympics.
The IBA, led by Russia at the time Deprived of his identity in June 2023 Setting reforms cannot be implemented.
World Boxing was founded in April 2023 and now has 78 members on five continents. Including the UK.
“The (IOC) assessment concluded that world boxing continues to make progress in the areas of definite consideration,” the IOC statement reads.
The IOC’s addition of world boxing meets several key criteria worthy of recognition, including obtaining sufficient membership on five continents.
It also applied the sports complete process during Paris 2024, providing independent supervision and good governance structures, as well as guaranteeing revenue and signing of the World Anti-Doping Regulations.
