UFC: Jack Della Maddalena says swapping Leon Edwards fight for Belal Muhammad ‘easy decision’
Edwards, former UFC champion, myself Losing Mohammed’s title last July But the UFC wants to keep the Birmingham fighter on the London card.
If he wins the next few battles, the 33-year-old is expected to get a chance to win back the championship.
Muhammad of the United States thwarted the odds of defeating Edwards in Manchester and defending Edwards for the first time.
The 36-year-old is on a 10-match unbeaten streak, including a matchless match and says Della Maddalena stepped out of “the pool of boys into the depths of the ocean.”
Della Maddalena won his last 17 battles, including seven of which won seven in the UFC, which will be his first challenge to the UFC championship.
“I’m the striker at the second and second level,” Mohammed said. “I’m the best grasper, I’m the best wrestler, I’m the best fighter.
“We’ve seen it. Leon Edwards – He’s the next one. He knocked down Kamaru Usman and I look easy. I’m going to make it look easy on May 10. People have been doubting me and I’m just going to keep breaking those barriers.”
