Lionel Messi: Inter Miami forward fined after grabbing opposition coach’s neck
Lionel Messi was fined not disclosed by MLS for violating the league’s policies and related to the opponent’s face, head or neck.
The MLS Discipline Committee decided to fine Miami striker Messi, 37, after a 2-2 draw with New York FC on February 22.
The eight-time Ballon d’Or champion was seen approaching members of the opposition coaching staff and placed his hands behind his neck.
Teammate Luis Suarez was also fined for violating the same MLS policy for pinching opposing player Birk Risa’s neck in the back in the half-time.
