Ellis Mee: New Wales wing reflects on rapid rise to international rugby
The heroes, including Liam Williams and Shane Williams, have been Wales.
His Welsh connection is his mother Karen, who is from Newport, and he says his main rugby influence is his father Tony, who died in 2022.
Mee, the middle of three brothers between Connor and Evan, wrote on his social media after the game: “This is for your dad.”
“He would like it,” Meen said.
“It’s all surreal for him and me.
“It was my dad who mostly got me into rugby. He always played rugby, watched rugby on TV, and then I went to see him every weekend and my brothers were watching him.
“My mom’s Welsh, so she dominated things. My mom’s influence was very strong and she had a lot of influence on my dad.
“I’m a Welsh fan and my father took me to Cardiff to play. I always watch Welsh teams and have been to Wales more games than English.”
My family witnessed him realizing his dream at the Principality Stadium of Cardiff.
May said: “My mom kept shaking and she was nervous, but once the last whistle came, she was fine.”
