Blackburn Rovers: Valerien Ismael appointed head coach

Blackburn Rovers has appointed Valerien Ismael as their new head coach until the end of the 2027-28 season.

The former Barnsley, West Brom and Watford boss replaced John Eustace, who left behind a job in Derby County earlier this month.

Ismael, 49, led Barnsley to the championship in Oakwell’s only season and hopes to do the same game with Blackburn, Blackburn Blackburn ranked sixth.

“He knows the championship very well, and the games he finishes in the playoffs.

“He played and managed in some of Europe’s largest environments and has all the certificates of success with us in the coming years.”

Ismael’s first game director will be on Saturday at Norwich City (also challenged in the playoffs).
