Aitana Bonmati: Spain’s players “battled hard” during the Luis Rubiales case
Ballon d’Or Winner Aitana Bonmati said the Spanish players “fight hard” in the Luis Rubiales case and “not futile yet.”

Bonmati said before Wednesday’s Women’s National League against England at Wembley Stadium, Bonmati said she hopes to speak out about what happened, which will help lead to soccer and wider social change.
“I hope this case will change our better respect as football players in our country, football matches. But it’s also a global case,” the Barcelona striker said.
“I don’t want to just talk about football players. I think that will happen in other jobs. I hope this can help anyone who goes through these things.
“I believe there is a reason for this case to happen, making us more respectful to women. It’s difficult, but it makes us more champion.
“We’re not only winning on the court, but we’re on the court. We’re always fighting for our rights and women’s rights. We know we have to suffer a lot, and that makes us stronger.”
Rubiales was suspected of forcing Hermoso to publicly say that the kiss was consistent as he tried to put pressure on Hermoso.
Bonmati added: “I was surprised that there were no sentences related to compulsion, but the trial had a purpose. We were all happy.”
“We’re doing well on the court and supporting our teammates. We’ve worked hard and we know what we’re doing isn’t in vain.”
Current Spanish manager Montse Tome avoids answering direct questions about the case and wants to focus on football.
“My purpose is to make sure that when we are together with training camp and international responsibilities, we are talking about football here,” Tome said.
“I’m very grateful for the question about football, now that the case is coming to an end, our position is clear and we have supported the players.
“We hope we can get back to normal now and we hope to focus on football again.”
