Killing Me Softly singer dies aged 88

R&B singer Roberta Flack was the first time I saw your face and gently killed me with his song at the age of 88.
“We are heartbroken that the glorious Roberta Flack passed away this morning on February 24, 2025,” her representative said in a statement.
“She died peacefully by her family. Roberta broke the boundaries and records. She was also a proud educator.”

Born in North Carolina, the musician grew up in Arlington, Virginia, started as a classical pianist who taught music for the first time.

In 2020, a year after the stroke, Flack won the Grammy Award for Lifetime Achievement.
“It’s a huge and overwhelming honor,” she said at the time.
“I’ve tried to tell stories through music. This award is a validation of me, and my peers heard what I thought and accepted what I was trying to give.”
Once married, the star spent a lot of time with jazz musician Stephen Novosel to go to the Roberta Flack School of Music in New York.
Flack’s most famous song was introduced to a new generation of music fans when Lauryn Hill’s hip-hop band The Fugees recorded a Grammy-winning cover in which Killed They will eventually perform on stage with her.
