Robin van Persie: Feyenoord appoint former Arsenal and Man Utd striker as new head coach
Former Arsenal and Manchester United striker Robin Van Persie has been named the new head coach of Feyenoord.
The 41-year-old retired in 2019 and left Dutch side Heerenveen to take charge of the club he has two spells among the players, making 122 appearances for them and scoring 46 goals.
Van Persie is also an assistant coach for Feyenoord under Dick Advocaat and worked with the youth team before heading Heerenveen last May .
The former Dutch international is ranked ninth in Eredivisie after winning seven of 23 games.
Van Persie signed a contract until 2027, and he will be assisted by Rene Hake.
“Everyone knows how special my connection with Feyenoord is,” he said.
“I’m very much looking forward to working with the player group with a strong staff.”
Feyenoord ranked third in the list, 11 points behind leader Ajax. They rejected Dane Brian Priske after they won one victory in six league games last week.
Priske took over Arne slot machine last summer after the Dutch left Liverpool.
Van Persie spent eight years at Arsenal since 2004 and helped them win the FA Cup before joining Manchester United in 2012 where he first season at the club Win the Premier League.
