British Rally Championship: William Creighton starts title bid with victory
Northern Ireland’s William Creighton won the bid to win the British Rally title, making a perfect start in the East Riding Stage victory.
Yorkshire’s victory was Creighton’s first win in the BRC, which trailed the championship in 2024 Chris Ingram.
Creighton is a former junior BRC and Junior WRC champion, and co-driver Liam Regan turned to the Toyota Gr Yaris title and won seven out of 10 tarmac stages.
The 27-year-old Irish motorsport racing driver leads 23.8 seconds ahead of Irish crew members Keith Cronin and Mikie Galvin, while James Williams and Ross Whito Ross Whittock ranked third.
“This is our first rally in the car, we didn’t do much before the event started (in Yaris), and it’s so tricky today and it feels good,” Creighton told BRC.
“I’m so excited about what’s going to happen. Thank you so much for Liam for doing a great job in his notes and keeping me straight. I’m really happy.”
In the Junior BRC, Kyle McBride won the victory and the Irish Racing Rally Rally crew had a podium lock.
McBride and co-pilot Darragh Mullen lead Craig Rahill and Conor Smith for 10.6 seconds while Keelan Grogan and Aytron Sherlock completed the podium.
The second round of the season is the Carlisle stage on April 12.
