British Indoor Athletics Championships: Jeremiah Azu retains men’s 60m title in Birmingham
Jeremiah Azu retains his British Indoor Men’s 60m championship at the British Indoor Track and Field Championships in Birmingham.
Azu matched his personal best time of 6.56, which was enough to rank first on the podium ahead of John Otugade and Andrew Robertson, with only 0.22 splits the entire eight.
Azu said, “This is amazing. I don’t think words can be described.”
“I like to entertain people in the right way. You misunderstood one step. You are the game. I’m a winner, what I want in my heart.”
Bianca Williams won the Women’s 60 million championship for the first time with his first personal best time.
“I have a lot of ups and downs on the journey and I feel like I’m on a great path now and on the moon,” she said.
“I’m glad to be number one, I’m glad. I know I’m in good condition and I can’t wait to go to the European Championship.”
Abigail Pawlett won the women’s 60 million obstacle with 8.09, 0.02 ahead of Emma Nwofor and Marli Jessop ranked No. 1 three.
Daniel Goriola is a bronze medalist for 2024, winning the men’s event before Iola Grant and William Ritchie-Moulin.
In the 60 million segment, Zac Shaw won the men’s competition, and women’s Sophie Hahn.
The action was delayed by 90 minutes at the start of the day after the evacuation of Utilita Arena due to a fire in the nearby apartment.
Now, attention will turn to the European Indoor Championships held in Appeldoon, Netherlands from March 6 to 9.
