1. Avoid strong emotions songs
Just because the songs on your sleep playlist have to be a little slower, it doesn’t mean they have to be sad. Don’t listen to any songs that make you feel melancholy or make your mind wander. Racing ideas can be hard to close when you try to fall asleep. The same can be said for songs that remind you of vivid memories or feelings.
2. Skip music above 80 bpm
Ideal sleep songs around 60 knots per minute. The rhythm of a song can be synchronized with our heartbeat, so anywhere around 60 to 80 bpm is the best choice. I recommend creating a playlist that starts with a higher BMP, about 80, and as the playlist progresses, add songs with lower and lower BMP. This can help lower your heart rhythm in order to prepare for sleep.

When sleeping with music or podcasts, I often have problems with my phone, and I fall asleep quickly. When I wake up from a nap or in the middle of the night, my cell phone has a low battery and I lose my place in the podcast. Using a sleep timer is an easy way to save your battery. Fortunately, if you use an iPhone, you don’t have to download any third-party apps. You can find the sleep timer under the clock app. From there, click Timer and find Timer when the timer is finished under the Timer tab. If you scroll all the way below the selected timer tone, you will see “Stop Play” as an option. This way, you can set the time to how long, and when the time comes, your phone will stop playing Spotify, YouTube, Amazon Music, and more.
