Direct transparent erosion of antennas is a simple and powerful indoor antenna with an unobtrusive design. The Eclipse antenna is a flexible vinyl halo that spreads about 8 inches and is secured to a smooth surface (usually window glass or painted wall) using a crescent shape of transparent double-sided adhesive plastic. (Since my experiments are strictly temporary, I used blue painter’s tape and suggested others use the same until they finally determine the installation.) One side of the antenna is white and the other side is black, so When it comes to decoration, you can choose poison.
The shell about half an inch thick at the bottom (the antenna itself is no more than half a millimeter or so thick in thickness) provides a standard coaxial F-connator, plus the coaxial cable provided. Clearstream packs two: 3-foot and 12-foot lengths, intending to connect the antenna to the included signal amplifier, while the longer the AMP that connects the antenna to the TV (other lengths are available in most hardware stores). The AMP module is about the size of a pack of chewing gum, with two F-connectors (antenna input and signal output) and a Mini-USB port for power. The 8-foot power cable provided with juice, which can come from any open USB port on the TV or other components, or from a small wall charger with an Eclipse. (The amplifier provided with my eclipse sample looks slightly different from the one shown in AD, but may be electrically the same).
It is worth repeating before we report the performance of Clearstream Eclipse: Real– The World Reception is overwhelmingly affected by the elevation of your location, as well as any natural or artificial obstacles, i.e. any obstacles to intervening between it and the radio transmitter you need. Our results reflect a half countryside, about 700 feet above sea level, on second floor windows, with clear southeast where various signals emanate from the east, south and southwest, ranging from 17 miles to 75 mile. With this warning case, in my trial, Eclipse proposed 16 main signals, providing a total of 61 main and subchannels – impressive results. With its excellent performance (especially on UHF band signals), the Clearstream Eclipse amplification is very expensive at $50 and you can find it regularly for less. Still, spending half to twice as much on larger designs containing VHF elements may provide more edge signals.

How do I test the antenna direct transparent erosion
- Testing in semi-rural locations
- Compared to powerful “reference” antennas
I tested the indoor TV antenna at a semi-rural hilltop location, which was well-heighted and clear on the nearly 360-degree TV transmitter, ranging from about 15 to 70 miles. This test environment allows me to evaluate models that meet various indoor antenna needs.
During the test, I first placed the antenna high in a south-facing window and then ran the tuning process on the TV using the ATSC 3.0 “Next Generation TV” tuner. Then I recorded the number of carriers tuned, and the total number of subchannels. Powerful internal roof-type antennas in the same location are also used as reference for comparison.
