Volta ao Algarve stage cancelled after chaotic finish sees riders go wrong way
The first phase of Volta Ao Algarve ends with a chaotic scene as a large part of the pelvis is led in the wrong way.
Italy’s Filippo Ganna raised her arms to celebrate after many of his competitors mistakenly led to the last side, after crossing the line for the first time.
Race organizers later said the 190 km phase from Portimaye to Lagos Canceled,,,,, External No winners announced.
The weird scene happened after most of the top 50 riders were following a motorcycle that was off the distance, but parallel to the finish line.
Austrian cyclist Marco Haller tagged the “absurd” label and said that there should be consequences for the organizers.

“This is where officials, organizers need consequences.
“You can see the deviation at the last mile and it’s not stopped by officials.
“This can’t always be blamed for riders. It’s very frustrating.”
