A$AP Rocky guilty/not guilty of firearm assault on LA street
Rapper A$AP Rocky was found innocent of shooting at a former friend.
A Los Angeles-based jury acquitted musician whose legal name is Rakim Mayers, has two counts of felony assault involving up to 24 years in prison.
Terell Ephron claims that during an argument on Hollywood Street on November 6, 2021, Grammy-nominated hip-hop star opened fire at him and grazed him with one of the shots Knuckles.
Mr. Meyers is also a fashion tycoon and a long-time partner of pop star Rihanna, who denied the allegation that the weapon was a prop gun, his former friend called himself $ap relli, just in money after.
The court screamed and applauded as the first acquittal sentence read Tuesday. Mr. Meyers hurriedly hugged the family sitting behind him.
He hugged the lawyer and his eyes seemed to burst into tears when the second acquittal sentence was read.
Mr. Meyers shouted: “Thank God for saving my life.” He thanked the members of the 12-member jury.
The rapper was arrested on two felony assaults after a heated argument with former friends at the Hollywood Center.
Mr. Meyers and Mr. Everon have known each other since New York High School and are part of the A$AP MOB HIP-HOP collective.
As A$AP Rocky’s career began, their relationship eroded over time.
Authorities said Mr. Everon met with Mr. Meyes on November 6, 2021 the day after the two had disagreements.
They met a hotel outside the iconic pavement of Hollywood Celebrity Tour about a block away.
A fierce debate followed.
Mr. Meyers allegedly ejected the gun from his belt and pointed it at Mr. Efroon and told him, “I will kill you now.”
Mr. Everon testified: “He looked into my eyes and pointed the gun at me.”
Mr Everon said he told the rapper to fire the weapon, but Mr Meyers began to walk away.
As he left, Mr. Efroon followed, shouting.
At this point, prosecutors claimed that Mr. Meyers pulled out his gun again and fired multiple guns, one of which was said to have passed through Mr. Everon’s knuckle.
As Mr. Meyers’ defense counsel said, most of the trial depends on whether the gun in question is a harmless prop gun or a weapon that can actually cause harm, as Mr. Everon and the prosecutor call it That’s it.
The weapon has not been recovered by authorities.
