Egypt Developing Gaza Reconstruction Plan that Does not Displace Palestinians
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi affirms that his country is developing a comprehensive strategy to rebuild the Gaza Strip without forcing Palestinians to leave their land. Sisi confirmed it in a meeting with Cairo’s head of the World Jewish Congress, Ronald Lauder. The Egyptian president also highlighted the efforts of his country to maintain a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Gaza. According to him, Egypt is working to ensure a smooth exchange of hostages and prisoners and to promote the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza. Xixi also stressed the need for “responsible action” among all parties, warning that any escalation would harm all parties. Xixi asserted that the core of achieving lasting peace was the establishment of a Palestinian state consistent with the border on June 4, 1967. Meanwhile, Lauder praised Egypt’s leadership in the Middle East diplomacy and committed to continuing consultation.
