Para-bobsleigh World Championships: GB’s Corie Mapp wins historic title
Corie Mapp of the UK Claiming the entire World Cup championship The third time.
The 46-year-old former soldier, a double amputee, has a total of 4 minutes and 54.03 seconds in four matches in St Moritz, earned from Switzerland’s Jonas Frei After 0.3 seconds of the game, Austria’s Hermann Ellmauer was third.
Mapp became the first British man to win the World Championship Bobsleigh Gold in 60 years, and his ninth attempt came after winning silver medals in 2019 and bronze medals in 2024 and 2017.
“This victory was very exciting for me – it’s been a long time since I wanted it and we’ve tried to achieve that,” Map said.
“The stars definitely allied for this. Everything went the way we wanted and I’m very grateful for this success.
“I’ve won the Grand Slam now and may continue to do that for a long time.”
Mapp won 60 major medals at Para-Bobsleigh, adding world titles to European Championships in 2019 and 2024 and winning all World Cup series in 2018, 2024 and 2025.
Para-bobsleigh is not included in the Winter Paralympic Games.
Tony Nash and Robin Dixon were the last British man to win a gold medal at the Sled World Championships, winning two-time St Moritz in 1965.
