An estimated one-third of Americans plan to escape on spring break, avoiding typical travel schedules could lead to hundreds of dollars in savings.

For international travel, Hopper recommends booking flights as soon as possible and says hotels are usually in the cheapest location just two to four days before checking in.

Travelers looking to enter warmer destinations

According to Hopper, users of the app are just as usual, want to travel to warmer destinations this spring. Three of the five most viewed domestic destinations are in Florida, Las Vegas and Phoenix. Countries such as Mexico and Jamaica are one of the most popular international destinations this year.

Domestic flights and travel to the Caribbean, Mexico and Central America are 3% more expensive than last year, while tickets with fewer traditional spring break destinations are cheaper. For example, air tickets to Canada and Asia fell by 5% and 12% respectively.
