Dozens evacuated as fire breaks out at hotel
About 100 people evacuated from five-star hotels in central London as the fire continues to burn in the buildings.
The London Fire Brigade (LFB) said twenty fire trucks and about 125 firefighters were summoned to the fire at the Chiltern Fire Station (LFB) in Marybonn.
The fire started at about 14:50 GMT and is located in a pipe leading from the ground floor to the roof of the luxurious four-story hotel, which has a restaurant on the ground floor. The plant houses on the rooftop floor have also declined, LFB said.
The hotel is a celebrity hotspot and hosts A-Listers like Jennifer Lawrence, Lady Gaga, Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise and Johnny Depp.
Located on Chiltern Street, the hotel occupies the location of the Victoria Fire Department, which was built in 1889. This is the location of Kylie Minogue’s 50th birthday party in 2018.
The LFB said staff from Euston, Soho, Paddington, West Hampstead, Kensington and Chelsea Fire Departments were deployed and remained on site. The cause of the fire is not yet known.
