Ukraine will disagree with any peace agreements proposed by the United States and Russia without participation after Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin promised to start negotiations to end the war.

“As an independent country, we cannot accept it,” Zelensky said.

The U.S. president has previously said that the possibility of ending the war is high after he and his Russian counterparts spoke on the phone on Wednesday. But it is not “practical” that Ukraine joins NATO and is “unlikely” to return to the pre-2014 border, he added.

In addition, Trump announced a meeting of “high-level people” from the United States, Ukraine and Russia at a security meeting in Munich on Friday.

He said he was not sure who would come from any country.

Russia, which does not attend the annual forum, has not yet publicly commented on Trump’s claims.

Zelensky’s consultant Dmytro Lytvyn told reporters that “convene talks with Russians in Munich”.

Earlier, it was announced that Zelensky would meet with U.S. Vice President JD Vance in German city on Friday.

Zelensky also made a personal phone call with Trump on Wednesday, saying Ukraine could not accept “no agreement without us”.

“Europeans also need to be on the negotiating table,” he said, telling Trump that his priority is “safety assurance” and that he can’t see that without the support of the United States.

In an article on a telephone discussion with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, he said that without the unity of Ukraine, Europe and the United States, negotiations would not have begun.

“I stress that Ukraine must negotiate from its dominant position and have strong and reliable security assurances, and that NATO membership is the most cost-effective for partners,” he said.

“I also warn world leaders not to believe Putin’s claim to end the war.”

Ukraine’s European allies also rejected any action to force settlement to Kiev.

British Defense Minister John Healey said, “It is impossible to negotiate on Ukraine without Ukraine, and the voice of Ukraine must be the core of any negotiation.”

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz rejected “peace of orders”, which his defense minister said was “a pity that “Washington” had made “concessions” to the Kremlin.

In a speech by a reporter at the Brussels North Date talks, EU foreign policy head Kaja Kallas accused Washington of “appep feet” against Russia.

“We shouldn’t put anything on the table before the negotiations begin, because it plays a role in the Russian courts, and that’s what they want,” she said.

Donald Trump says he may meet Vladimir Putin in Saudi Arabia

Trump said he would openly appeal with Putin in Putin since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, saying he would meet Putin in Saudi Arabia. He did not provide any further details about possible dates.

Speaking to reporters at the Oval Office on Wednesday, he said Putin “want (the war) to end” and he hopes for a ceasefire soon.

When asked whether Ukraine is an equal member in the peace process, he added that “they must achieve peace”.

His Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said in a press conference Thursday at a NATO summit that peace talks would “be “with both Putin and Zelensky” and that he would Trump Described as “the perfect trader”.

Hegseth said on Wednesday that it was “unrealistic” to hope Ukraine would return to the pre-2014 border and understate the prospect of Ukraine joining NATO, and he seemed to return to his remarks, saying “everything is on the table, dialogue Yes, dialogue is” led by the president.

The Defense Secretary also recommended financial assistance to Ukraine during negotiations, as well as U.S. troops figures in Europe.

Moscow annexed the Black Sea Peninsula of Crimea after the overthrow of Ukraine’s pro-Russian president in 2014 and supported pro-Russian separatists in bloody battles in eastern Ukraine.

About three years ago, the conflict broke out in full swing war.

Moscow’s attempt to control the Kiev capital was thwarted, but Russian troops have taken over one-fifth of Ukrainian territory in the eastern and southern regions and carried out air strikes nationwide.

Ukraine retaliated against artillery and drone strikes, as well as ground offensives in western Russia’s Kursk region.
