NBA: Kevin Durant becomes eighth player to 30,000 points in league’s history
Durant, who won two NBA titles against the Golden State Warriors, is a four-time NBA scoring champion, averaged in each game over 17 seasons in the league Average of at least 20 points per game.
His average score of 27.2 is fourth among players, behind Jordan (30.1), Chamberlain (30.1) and Elgin Baylor (27.4).
“It’s a real honor to be in the same category as players who help shape the game and push the game forward,” Durant said.
“It has always been my goal: to make the most of myself every day and in my career so I can mention it with these guys, which means I’m doing the right thing.”
Durant also won four Olympic gold medals with Team USA.
“He is one of the great men. He is one of the great men,” Morant told TNT Sports. “That’s why I pay tribute to him.
“He said he (don’t care too much), but, hey, (not everyone gets 30K). In awe in him, I hope he keeps going. We want to see him here.”
Elsewhere, Karl-Anthony Towns scored 40 points and the New York Knicks beat the Indiana Pacers with a 128-115 victory.
The Knicks are third in the Eastern Conference, leading the Pacers.
Scottie Barnes scored 33 points and 10 rebounds as the Toronto Raptors lost their fourth inning 106-103 with the Philadelphia 76ers.
Meanwhile, Detroit Pistons’ Malik Beasley scored seven three-pointers on the Chicago Bulls’ 132-92 hit the bench.
