European Track Cycling Championships: Great Britain win team sprint medals

When the men’s team won the bronze medal, the women in Britain won the silver sprint on the first day of the European Circuit Bike Championships.

Lauren Bell, Rhian Edmunds and Rhianna Parris-Smith’s trio ended in 46.929 seconds, finishing second in the third straight year and won the first medal in the UK’s 2025 championship.

The Netherlands took the podium at Heusden-Zolder of Belgium and won the gold medal at 46.322 seconds.

Bale is part of the women’s sprint team that won silver medals in 2023, but Edmunds and Parris-Smith made elite appearances.

The men’s sprint teams of Harry Ledingham-Horn, Hayden Norris and Harry Radford won bronze before the Czech trio, before 43.152 seconds, while France won gold and the Netherlands won silver in a five-day championship match.

Meanwhile, Anna Morris finished fifth in the women’s scratch match, while William Perrett finished eighth in the men’s knockout round.

Both men’s and women’s teams’ pursuit teams are eligible for Thursday’s first round.
