England v Scotland: Alex Mitchell says England want to end Calcutta Cup ‘hurt’
Scrum-Half Alex Mitchell said England intends to end four years of “harm” to Scotland when they meet in six countries.
Scotland won its last four Kolkata Cup matches, and Mitchell said English motivation was high and denied Gregor Townsend’s fifth straight victory.
England will welcome Scotland to the Allianz Stadium with joy on February 22 The last game defeated Francewhich reduces seven losses to first-tier countries.
“We have been not achieving results over the past four years (versus Scotland),” Mitchell told BBC Sport.
“The six countries are still fighting for the campaign, so it’s a huge game for us.
“We know that Scotland is a quality opposition with some high-quality individuals, so we can’t take them for granted.
“We know we just have to perform there.”
Mitchell has an influence on England’s late recovery against Les Bleus, bringing offense from tired Maul to a buoyant midfielder, Ellio Elliot Daly slid on France’s defense to win by scoring.
Northampton Saints Scrum-Half, 27, said he noticed the chances of Daly’s forward arm wrestling match.
“France’s defense has been changing,” Mitchell added.
“They have two defenders, and then one is (Damian) Penard did a really good job behind Maul who covered both sides.
“We noticed a public mismatch, so we shot and scored in that way. You have a minute to try to make the right decision, and luckily we did it.”
