Egypt Tells Rubio: Arab States Reject Trump’s Plan to Displace Gaza’s Palestinians
Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty conveyed to the Arab countries the rejection of President Donald Trump’s plan to the Palestinian presidential plan against U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Trump recently proposed that Palestinians were relocated to neighboring Egypt and Jordan without the right to return. Trump’s plan will also see the United States take control of the conference and turn it into “the Riviera of the Middle East.” At a meeting in Washington, Abdelatty stressed the urgent need for rapid reconstruction of Gaza while ensuring Palestinians stay at home. The U.S. State Department statement noted that Rubio called for greater cooperation in post-conflict governance and security in Gaza and insisted that Hamas must never rule the territory or threaten Israel. Meanwhile, Trump’s comments have been widely invested by critics, rights advocates and the UN label it as a proposal for ethnic cleansing.
