Todd Boehly: Chelsea owner to buy stake in Hundred team Trent Rockets
Chelsea owner Todd Boehly has agreed to buy a 49% stake in hundreds of Trent Rockets.
Founded by American Boehly and British businessman Jonathan Goldstein, Cain International will pay less than £40 million in Rockets, valuing the entire franchise at 7,900 £10,000.
Nottinghamshire, the owner of the Rockets on its Trent Bridge ground, will retain 51% of the control over the other.
Cain is a real estate investment company that enjoys shares in the London Spirit stake Sold to the Silicon Valley consortium for £145 million.
So far, Rockets’ sales require a total share sales of 700 teams, reaching more than £500 million.
The total value of the 700 franchises is approximately £820 million.
Southern Brave will be the eighth and last franchise to be sold later this week. After acquiring the host country of Hampshire, they may go to co-owners of the Indian Premier League (IPL) team.
Boehly leads a consortium that acquired Chelsea Premier League club for £4.25 billion in May 2022 and became chairman of Stamford Bridge. Goldstein is also on the club’s board.
Boehly is a minority owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team, and he owns stakes in about 12 sports-related businesses through his group Eldridge Industries.
