Bangladesh spinner gets five-year ban from ICC for £13,000 hit-wicket World Cup offer

Bangladesh’s Spinner Shohely Akhter was banned for five years after offering a companion of £13,000 ($16,465) and was rejected in the World Cup match.

Akhter, 36, admitted that the International Cricket Commission (ICC) anti-corruption bill violated the crime during the Women’s T20 World Cup 2023.

Akhter, who played two one-day international matches and 13 T20 matches in Bangladesh, was not part of their match and was with colleagues in a series of voice notes on Facebook Take help.

The unnamed player was asked to hit his own tree stump while hitting the ball Tigresses beat Australia with eight goals On February 14, 2023, the player reported Akhter to the ICC’s anti-corruption department.

The International Criminal Court said Akhter’s confession of guilt means “no formal disciplinary proceedings or hearings are required in this case” and that “five years of failure are reasonable and proportionate”.

Akhter, who has not played for Bangladesh since 2022, will not be able to play, coach, host or otherwise compete in matches approved by the ICC or any other national cricket association during her ban.
