Abi Tierney: Wales head coach role is attractive, says WRU boss
After independent review, Gatland has won a vote of confidence from six countries despite overseeing Wales’ 11 consecutive failed calendar years.
Tierney denied that Gatland had only left two games in the game, showing that there was “confused thought.”
“It’s a very thorough comment,” Tierney said.
“There are many reasons why we decided not to make changes (December), including Warren who wanted to move forward to the game, our timing, availability and alternatives in the game. That.

Asked if Gatland is eager to continue working and whether he will leave this week, Tierney said the question is “assumed.”
“Tomorrow we’re going to have a board meeting where we’re going to have an interim review, so I can’t say what that would be right now,” Tierney said.
“It will inevitably happen, but it will be the decision of the board.”
Tierney added that she has no regrets about not accepting Gatland’s resignation in March 2024 after Wales picked up the first six country wooden spoons.
Tierney undoubtedly owed Gatland during his first 12 years, leading Wales into three Grand Slams and two World Cup and a half finals.
“We owe him a lot,” Tierney said.
“I told him during our conversation that one of the main reasons I was working with him.
“He is an inspiring coach and one of the best in the world. As a winner in the Grand Slam and Championship, I hope that’s his legacy and what he remembers.”
