Al Maaden (Macaal), a museum of African contemporary art in Marrakech, reopened after a massive renovation, providing permanent residence for the Lazraq family’s extensive collection of African contemporary art. The museum’s inaugural exhibition, “Africa is not an island”, features works by 40 founding and emerging photographers from across the continent and diaspora, highlighting the diversity and richness of African art.
