Tariffs are a core part of Trump’s economic vision—he sees them as a way to develop the U.S. economy, protect work and increase tax revenues.
Earlier this month, Trump threatened to impose a 25% import tariff on Canadian and Mexican products. But it was postponed for 30 days later – Until early March – After talking to leaders of both countries.
He also imposed a 10% new U.S. tax on all Chinese goods – prompting China to retaliate against import taxes on certain U.S. goods.
Trump also said he will announce more sales rate tariffs “on Tuesday or Wednesday” and will take effect “almost immediately” after the announcement.
“Those who use the United States, we will get the countdown (tariff).” He said. “It will be great for everyone, including other countries.”
During his trip to New Orleans, Trump also signed a declaration designated “American Gulf” Day, February 9, to celebrate his plane’s body over the water, and his orders to the Gulf of Mexico.
Mexico Deemed that the United States cannot legally change the name of the Gulf Because UN rules stipulate that a country’s sovereign territory extends only to 12 nautical miles on the coastline.
Trump was also asked if he had ever spoken with Russian President Vladimir Putin and replied: “I don’t want to talk about it, if we’re talking, I don’t want to tell you too early to talk to believe we’re getting progress.”
“I think I’ll meet Putin in due time,” he said.
Trump also repeated his unlikely suggestion that the United States could take over Canada and the Gaza Strip, saying Canada would perform better as the “51st state” and that he was “committed to buying and owning Gaza.”
